CS2 Betting in Germany

Counter-Strike is the biggest esports betting market in the world and the biggest in Germany. It is also one no German-licensed bookmaker will price for you. This guide covers where German CS2 bettors actually bet, the markets, the calendar and the teams.

Our free CS2 betting tips run alongside this guide. Updated every morning, settled in public.

Short version first. Online sports betting is licensed in Germany, but the licence does not cover esports, so Betway, Tipico, Bwin, Bet365 and Interwetten have no CS2 markets for German customers. If you want to bet on IEM Cologne, BLAST Premier, ESL Pro League or the Majors from a German address, you are using an offshore book, and the one we send German readers to is Thunderpick. The legal position in full is in our is esports betting legal in Germany guide; the site comparison is in best esports betting sites in Germany.

TL;DR: CS2 betting in Germany (2026)

  • No GGL-licensed sportsbook offers CS2 markets to German customers. Esports is not a permitted category under the 2021 treaty.
  • German CS2 bettors use offshore books. Our pick is Thunderpick: CS2 priced all year, map handicaps, round totals and player props on the big events, German customers accepted under its terms.
  • Tier-one events: IEM Cologne, BLAST Premier (Spring, Fall, World Final), ESL Pro League, the two Majors.
  • Map pool to know: Mirage, Inferno, Nuke, Anubis, Ancient, Dust2, Train.
  • Offshore you pay no 5.3% wager tax, and you get no GGL complaints route, no OASIS coverage and no deposit cap. Deposits are crypto.

Is CS2 Betting Legal in Germany?

Sports betting is legal and licensed in Germany under the 2021 Glücksspielstaatsvertrag, with the GGL in Halle issuing every licence. But the catalogue of permitted bet types is built around traditional sport and does not include esports, which is why a book can hold a full German licence and still have no CS2 line. We checked Betway.de on 30 August 2026: a German licence, zero esports markets.

So betting on CS2 from Germany means using an operator that is not licensed in Germany. German enforcement is aimed at operators, not at individual bettors, and we know of no case brought against a person for placing a CS2 bet with an offshore site. What you give up is real, though: no German complaints route if a payout goes wrong, no OASIS self-exclusion, no EUR 1,000 deposit cap, and English rather than German support.

Where German CS2 Bettors Actually Bet

Thunderpick is a Curaçao-licensed book that started as an esports book, and CS2 is its deepest product. You get match winner, map handicaps on every map of a Bo3, total rounds priced pre-match, correct map score, pistol-round and first-kill props, and live markets during the event, on tier-one and tier-two events through the calendar rather than only around Cologne. Its terms restrict players from the Netherlands, the United States and sanctioned countries; Germany is not on the list. Deposits and withdrawals are crypto only (Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT and others), the site is in English, and identity verification is required before your first withdrawal. We have not rated it because we do not rate operators we have not taken through deposit and withdrawal ourselves.

CS2 Markets You Will See on the Slip

CS2 isn’t football. The markets that count aren’t just who wins the series. They’re priced around individual maps, individual rounds and side-specific edges. Here’s what you’ll see on the Thunderpick slip during a Bo3 at IEM Cologne or BLAST Premier.

The CS2 Tournament Calendar for German Bettors

The biggest single date on the German calendar is IEM Cologne in July, a $1,000,000+ event held at the LANXESS Arena and run by ESL out of their Cologne HQ. BLAST Premier’s Spring and Fall series bookend the year, with the BLAST World Final in winter. The two PGL Majors are the highest-prestige events each season, and ESL Pro League runs across the year for tier-one regular-season action.

  • IEM Cologne 2026 — 23 July to 3 August, LANXESS Arena. Deepest German-language coverage of the year. Reigning champion to watch: Vitality.
  • PGL Majors — two per year, Valve-sanctioned. Strongest field, biggest stakes, deepest market depth.
  • BLAST Premier — Spring Groups, Spring Final, Fall Groups, Fall Final, World Final.
  • ESL Pro League — year-round tier-one regular-season league play.
  • IEM Katowice — February, Spodek Arena. Bigger crowd than Cologne, similar prize pool.
  • Regional leagues — ESEA Premier and Europe-focused circuits for live in-play bets between Majors.

Teams German Bettors Should Know

European CS2 is concentrated at the top. Six rosters carry most of the betting volume on a tier-one matchday, and knowing how they match up on specific maps is the single biggest edge you can build.

  • Vitality — ZywOo’s team. Strongest CT-side Mirage in Europe; ban Nuke against them and you remove their second-best map.
  • G2 Esports — NiKo and m0NESY firepower. High variance on Anubis, much more reliable on Inferno.
  • FaZe Clan — karrigan-led, deep playbook. Often priced shorter than their HLTV rating warrants pre-Major.
  • Heroic — Danish squad, T-side Inferno specialists, give you map handicap value as the underdog.
  • Natus Vincere (NaVi) — s1mple’s old org. Strong on Ancient and Dust2, weaker on Anubis.
  • MOUZ — the closest thing to a German-aligned roster on the tier-one circuit. Always the home crowd’s pick in Cologne.

Live Betting on CS2 From Germany

At a GGL-licensed book, live betting is limited by the state treaty to final result and next-event markets, and in any case none of them prices CS2. Offshore, live CS2 betting is the full menu: next map winner, next round, live map handicap and live total rounds, with prices moving pistol round by pistol round. Two habits keep it from becoming a leak. Watch the stream with the delay in mind, because the book’s feed is ahead of yours, and set a stake size for live bets before the match starts rather than reacting to a lost eco round.

Reading CS2 Odds (Quick Primer)

German books quote in decimal odds by default. A 2.50 price returns €2.50 for every €1 staked (your €1 back plus €1.50 profit). Convert decimal to implied probability by dividing 1 by the price: 2.50 = 40% chance. If your read on the match gives a team a higher chance than the market does, that’s where value sits. Not a guarantee, but a long-run edge.

Map handicap odds work the same. G2 at -1.5 maps at 2.00 means they have to win 2-0 in a Bo3 (or 3-0, 3-1 in a Bo5). The underdog at +1.5 at 1.80 needs only one map. Implied probability tells you the same story: 2.00 = 50%, 1.80 = 55.6%. Remember the Wettsteuer too: 5.3% on stake means a 2.00 price needs to deliver true odds closer to 2.11 to break even.

Sharp Habits for CS2 Bettors in Germany

  • Check HLTV.org’s team ratings and the last five matches on a team’s map pool before placing a map-winner bet.
  • Read the map veto when the series goes live. Both teams reveal their preferences before round one, and that reshapes every map-level market.
  • Watch for roster changes within seven days of a tournament. Fresh line-ups underperform their HLTV rating in the first two events.
  • Don’t chase losses with correct-score punts on a single map. Big odds are tempting but the variance eats bankrolls quickly.
  • Use the OASIS register or your operator’s deposit-limit tool the moment a session is running longer than you planned.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is CS2 betting legal in Germany?

Sports betting is licensed in Germany, but esports is not a permitted category, so no German-licensed bookmaker offers CS2 markets. Betting on CS2 from Germany means using an offshore operator, outside the regulated system. German enforcement is aimed at operators rather than bettors.

Where can I bet on CS2 from Germany?

At an offshore esports book. We send German readers to Thunderpick: CS2 priced all year with map, round and player markets, German customers accepted under its terms, crypto deposits only.

Which CS2 markets give the best value?

Map handicaps and total rounds, because they reward knowing the map pool and each team’s veto habits, which the match-winner price already assumes you do not. Pistol-round props are fun but thin. Outrights on a Major are where the biggest mispricing appears, usually on the second-tier teams.

When are the biggest CS2 events?

IEM Cologne in the summer, the two Majors, BLAST Premier’s Spring and Fall groups and the World Final, and ESL Pro League seasons. The calendar section above has the dates.

Does the 5.3% Wettsteuer apply to CS2 bets?

Only at GGL-licensed books, and none of them offers CS2. Offshore there is no wager tax, and no German consumer protection either.

Which CS2 teams should German bettors follow?

The teams section above covers the current tier-one field. For German bettors specifically, watch the German-speaking rosters and the players who move between them, because roster changes move prices faster than form does.
