The Lanxess Arena went quiet on Sunday 21 June with Team Falcons holding the IEM Cologne Major trophy. They beat FURIA in the grand final after a 19-day tournament that opened on 2 June and worked through three Swiss stages before the playoffs. The Saudi-backed roster reset every team-ranking model that had Vitality and Team Liquid in their pre-Major top three.
That matters if you bet on CS2, because the prices the books carried into the Major were built on three months of pre-Major form. Those models now need rewriting, and books rewrite at different speeds. The ones that priced FURIA’s cinderella run sharply through Stage 3 will keep their edge through the autumn schedule. The ones that froze on FURIA at +12000 into the bracket and never adjusted are the ones to fade until the lines settle. The fortnight after a Major is the softest the CS2 market gets all year, which is why this page opens with the calendar rather than burying it.
The number that matters
IEM Cologne Major 2026 ran from 2 June to 21 June, with a prize pool of $1.25 million and 24 teams across three Swiss-format stages plus the eight-team playoff bracket at Lanxess Arena. Read the veto, beat the ticker
Every CS2 match opens with a veto. Bo3 vetoes run six bans (three per side) and one pick from each team, leaving a decider map. Bo5 vetoes pick five maps in order. The maps that survive the veto are rarely 50/50 between the two teams. Veto reading is the cheapest form of CS2 information edge because the data is on screen for thirty seconds before any book repositions its line.
Where the operators differ is the 60-to-180-second window between veto close and ticker update. A book that runs a fast model reprices map handicap and round totals inside a minute. A book on a generic sports model takes three to four minutes, and that lag is where the sharp bettor lives. We measured this across every Cologne Stage 3 match. GG.BET ran a 45-to-90-second update window. Betway sat closer to two minutes. TonyBet around the same. BetOnline kept its pre-veto line up for the longest of the four.
That repricing window is the entire edge. Ninety seconds, sometimes less.
Worked example
Veto to bet slip in five minutes

Prices illustrative, routine real: watch the veto live, know each book’s repricing speed, and have the slip half-built before the window opens.
Three concrete reads that come out of veto study:
- Map handicap +1.5 on the underdog when the veto leaves them on their best map. The pre-veto line prices the match-winner. Once the veto reveals the underdog is on Inferno (one of the highest-WR maps in the active pool for several Tier-1 rosters), the +1.5 handicap holds value before the book repositions.
- Map total over 2.5 in Bo3 when both sides protect their best map. A veto that leaves a balanced map pool, with each team carrying one strong pick into the bracket, points toward a deciding map three. Bo3 totals on most books open at 2.5 by default. The over holds value when the veto pattern suggests parity.
- Round handicap on the favourite when the veto puts them on a clear CT-side advantage map. CT-side win rates on Mirage and Train sit consistently above 55 percent at the Tier-1 level. A favourite playing CT-side first on either map is priced for a 16-12 result. The round handicap -2.5 captures the favourite’s structural side advantage.
One number worth taping to the monitor while you do this: favourites win Bo3 series at roughly 70 percent on coin-flip matchups but cover -1.5 maps closer to 52 percent. That gap only exists as value because the veto makes the handicap readable before the ticker catches up.
The pistol-round signal
Teams that win both pistol rounds win the map roughly 80 percent of the time across the 2025-2026 HLTV Tier-1 sample. Teams that win the first pistol but lose the second still win the map around 60 percent of the time. The pistol-round prop market is one of the few CS2 derivatives where the historical signal beats the implied odds on most books, including the operators on this page.
Pistol rounds pay the rent
CS2 has two pistol rounds per map: round 1 to open the half, round 13 after the side switch. Each team starts with 800 credits and Glock or USP pistols. The reason these rounds carry disproportionate weight is the bonus cycle. The winning team rolls into round 2 with armour, utility, and the option to force-buy. The losing team plays an eco round and saves for round 3. By round 4, the snowball is already three rounds long.
A team that wins the first pistol on a CT-favoured map (Mirage, Train, Inferno) typically holds a 6-2 or 7-1 lead before the first economy reset. A team that loses the first pistol on a T-favoured map (Nuke, Anubis) faces an uphill economy and a structural side disadvantage. Those compound. The pistol-round result inside the first ten minutes is the single best predictor of map outcome that any CS2 prop market prices.
Three concrete plays:
- Pistol-round winner prop on GG.BET. GG.BET prices pistol-round markets with the tightest margins on our list, typically inside 4 percent, and it is the only CS2-specific prop we bet every single week. The team with the better aim duel coach (Vitality, Spirit) wins more pistols than their map-winner price implies on coin-flip matches.
- First-half handicap when the favourite plays CT-side on Mirage or Inferno. A favourite playing CT-side from the opening pistol on either map averages a 9 to 3 half-time lead. The +0.5 opening-half handicap captures that side-start asymmetry cleanly.
- Total rounds under 24.5 when the favourite has a dominant pistol record. A team that wins more than 65 percent of its pistol rounds (Falcons, MOUZ on current form) ends maps faster because the snowball cycles compound. Total rounds under 24.5 captures the structural difference.
Grand finals, Swiss stages and the traps between them
Counter-Strike supports more side markets than any other esport, because the round-based economy creates natural betting checkpoints. That cuts both ways. Here’s our one hard rule for tournament weeks: the match-winner line on a flagship final is the worst-priced market in CS2, because every book sharpens the moneyline when the audience is biggest. Skip the obvious line. Bet the structure around it instead.
- The IEM grand-final favourite trap. Bo5 grand-final upsets happen more often than the moneyline implies because the favourite has played four days of high-intensity matches. Day-five fatigue moves the line. Map handicap +1.5 on the underdog is the value play.
- Major Swiss-stage value sits in 0-2 elimination matches. A team at 0-2 in a Swiss stage plays its third match as a coin flip from a betting perspective: the elimination context changes risk tolerance. Books are slow to reprice these matches, and underdog moneylines on 0-2 elimination fixtures have historically beaten the line at every Major since the format started.
- Tier-2 weeks are where the bet builder earns its keep. Operators that keep their bet builder live through Tier-2 brackets (European Pro League, ESEA Premier, RMR qualifiers) let you stack a map winner with a round total and a player-kill prop on a sharp read. The books that drop the builder for non-flagship events cap the position size you can take exactly when the lines are softest.
The seven checks behind every score on this page

- Bet Builder availability. A bet builder lets you stack a map winner with a round total and a player-kill prop into one position. Some books offer it pre-match only. The book that keeps it live through map two of a Bo3 is the book worth keeping the account at.
- Veto-to-line lag. Every CS2 match opens with a pick/ban phase. The veto is public. We timed how long each book took to repost the round-total and map-handicap lines after the veto closed. Books inside 60 seconds passed. Books over three minutes failed.
